The vast majority of the area consists of protected preserves and backwaters, making Naples a great place for boaters and fishing. Naples has dozens of golf communities and golf courses, making it a golfers paradise.

What is the appeal of Naples, that makes so many spend their winter months here? Naples Florida is known for miles of white sand beaches, semi-tropical weather, and a wide selection of year-round activities. Many sections of Naples contain the most affluent neighborhoods in all Florida.
Easy beach access makes Naples particularly appealing. Unlike most of
Florida's beach communities,
where beaches are crowded and difficult to get
to. Naples is not a big tourist
destination. There are only four hotels on the entire 16 miles stretch of
beaches. The beach is bordered by either residential neighborhoods or
preserves.
The Naples Florida economy is driven by the housing demand of second home buyers and those services required by them. There is no heavy industry in Naples, the largest employer is the county (Collier).
The "Naples Area" is in the northwest section of Collier County, and
covers an area five times larger than the actual city of Naples.
